Traditional bronze sculptures of contemporary females express the mystery and beauty of the human form in its beautiful complexity. Sculpting from life allows me to fully express the beautifully diverse female form.
Classical figurative nude sculpture initially did not include the nude female body. Rather it depicted an idealized male body, an athlete of ideal proportions.
I want to suggest that the normal non-objectified human form is worthy of memorialization and as my sculpture practice has grown out of my life-drawing practice of 40 years, chose to cast figures that appear as they do in real life - worthy by simply the virtue of being alive.
